Don't worry guys today is only a low to moderate fire danger rating according to the BOM... even though its going to be 39 and dry as dry... Unrelated to the FDI there is the chance for a lot of lightning coming down, there has been a line from Jurien Bay to Leinster since last night blasting out a ...

Re: DEC Waterbombers

Fixed wings just flew over heading north, early start for them (0800) It's always a worry when they are heading out early and you have a few days of very hot and windy weather on the way. Even small fires today are creating potential ignition sources for wednesday and thursday when its going to be 3...

Brill - Look forward to it, So I guess your a fire break contractor as well? It's crazy but I never get asked to do fire breaks, people have their regular guy who does it so it doesn't make financial sense for me to set up the capability. When it comes to fire breaks you need a tractor or bobcat, t...

Re: General fire discussions

If people properly prepare their home they should be fine... the problem is people seem to think cleaning out the gutters once a year is being properly prepared and thats the ones that think about it, it blows my mind that the state government hasn't gotten tough and brought in regulations. The big ...

Its good to see you care so much about how much we care about these things :)

Due to the size of the chopper it might not work well with the existing fleet as the clearance required might actually hinder the effectiveness of the existing fleet.

On Perth Now website http://www.perthnow.com.au/news/western-australia/wa-bushfire-guru-tips-perfect-storm/story-e6frg15c-1226229919325 A bit far fetched. Not at all, its exactly what happened in 1961, Dwellingup and a number of small forestry towns were totally destroyed with Dwellingup the only t...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

Possibly one of the old appliances from Forrestfield training center? Can't remember if they still have all the FESA stickers still on them but I know they still have a couple of old dual cab land rovers. This was a single cab Landrover with a white front end. You could be talking about my one, I r...

Re: Fire Weather

Yeah pine has a different rating and the fire danger rating for the jarrah forest would very rarely go below very high during summer. I've often thought the fire danger rating boards up in the hills should read off the jarrah forest fire danger rating not the grass fire danger rating.

DEC have got around the head fire and the fixed wings are just in a holding pattern so it sounds like it shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Re: General fire discussions

There was just a report of fire in west swan and Basso, Midland, East Swan and West Swan were mobilised as a first response. So they really have changed things in FESA, I remember a few years back you might have a 2.4 mobilised for back up if it was a bad fire day, its good to see... or maybe FESA j...
