Re: Can anyone identify this Tassie Vehicle ???
It's a Customs & Border protection Service vehicle. No markings just lightbar. How about that. Never would have guessed. Have seen a few Customs vehicles around tas and they are almost always ford falcon wagons that are marked. hhh, it returns! The use of this particular vehicle belongs to the ...

Re: Can anyone identify this Tassie Vehicle ???
Do you have any other pictures of the vehicle? or the location it is on? (looks like a construction site of some sort in the background) Does not look like standard issue Tasmanian Ambulance Service gear, most likely 3rd party operator of some description? industrial first aid etc...

Re: Helitak Thread
Unsure as to what its like in WA, but in the eastern states most helitac or medical rescue/police helicopter jobs go to ex -defence force helicopter pilots, they seem to have (and this is no offense to any other helicopter pilots out there) a higher skill level when it comes to flying in stressful a...

Re: TAS vehicle - unidentified
Can you see the number plate in the pic? all Tas Gov vehicles have Tas Gov number plates, whereas the customs vehicles etc use standard number plates.

Where abouts did you spot it? the only customs vehicles I have seen here in tas have been blue Ford station wagons, fully marked.

Re: TAS vehicle - unidentified
Ok, may have found your vehicle. Sitting in St john St, Launceston, was a Nissan Xtrail, with red only lightbar, it had markings but only on the front drivers and passengers doors. Belongs to Tasmanian Ambulance service, from most angles looks unmarked. Unsure as to what it does for the Ambulance se...

Re: TAS vehicle - unidentified
Most likely to be Parks and Wildlife, which is similar to DEC in WA, or Forestry Tasmania, who manage the forest plantations.

Re: VB's New Embraer Jets

Re: VB's New Embraer Jets
That was just what I was told, if you tell me that its wrong I am happy to believe that I am not arguing! There is obviously something that stops VB from flying international routes under its own name though, hence why we have pacific blue and V australia.

Re: VB's New Embraer Jets
the q400 comment was just the fact that its a nicer plane, not that it would be economical on a cocos run. I'm not sure of exact figures of the top of my head, but the front hold of a e190 is rated to hold just over 1600kg, the rear just over 1100kg. 1200kg of bags (working on 1 bag for every passen...

Re: VB's New Embraer Jets
Yes, Solomon stopped paying the contract. One of the main reasons for this was because a significant amount of the money meant for skyairworld was going into getting cargo that should have come with the e170 onto the islands by other means. I think the same could happen if vb start flying to cocos w...
