Kalgoorlie Amateur Repeater is back on air

VK6RAK is the callsign of the Kalgoorlie 2 metre repeater. It is back on air. It is on 147.000MHZ with an input on 146.400MHz. It is not yet linked to IRLP or Echolink. The antenna is at 30 feet in Boulder, and the coverage is not yet fully plotted. A better Location is being looked for. But at leas...

Re: Band usage revisions 400-520 something MHz

When I entered this topic I missed the fact there was an existing thread from 2008 on the same subject started by Raymond999. This latest request from ACMA is the revised discussion from the earlier discussion - if you can follow my twisted logic here...

Re: band plans amca 400-520MHz

From the WIA Director for VK6 Bob Bristow VK6POP Hi all Information is on the WIA website. I encourage comment from VK6 on the ACMA paper on the 400 MHz band. The WIA will certainly be making a submission to the ACMA on this matter. Your comments on the paper are welcome, and can be sent to the WIA,...

it is a poplink

VK6POP is the amateur that looks after the Tic Hill Repeater. He is also the Commisioner for radio activities in Scouts, National JOTA Coordinator, a WIA Director, a Choir singer, and a spare time crane driver. OK, not the cranes. yet. He often uses echolink, and is proably responsible for the voice...

Re: amatuer radio shop in perth

There is also Tower Communications in Hazelmere. He is Icom I know for sure, and possibly kenwood and yeasu, but the website lags behind. I am an Icom user, and have no complaints with the service. I have also bought Mail Order from Andrews in Sydney. Get more hams in VK6, and maybe they can afford ...

band plans amca 400-520MHz

On the ACMA site is a new discussion paper on the band, which includes the 70cm amateur band. see http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_311699. A quick glance does not show anything serious.
CBRS in the band may be expanded by 40 ne channels, but they will be fitted between the existing channels.

Band usage revisions 400-520 something MHz

On the ACMA Website, as of today, there is reference to a new discussion paper on this band. It includes the UHF CBRS. see http://www.acma.gov.au/WEB/STANDARD/pc=PC_311699 Essentially the major change for UHF CB is to add 40 more channels to the CBRS and make them backwards compatable. =D> Dang! And...

Newswest

Not sure why that error occuured for those who bombed trying to download from the site. I had about 4 complaints, but it does work.

I wonder if there is a limit on access for download at any one time?????

ie: two people do it, they get it, but if three people do it, one gets the dreaded 404....

Amateur Radio News

After 3 months of wrestling with Windoze Vista, Audacity, and Realtek, I have finally got the news recordings taped. Until today, I was having major problems with inputs and outputs being turned off at random. Curse Windoze of the Vista era. Curse Audacity. As of this morning, the VK6 news content w...

Star Pickets

Meg, If it will not far down, owing to ground rock, you can always put more pickets in the ground and wire them together. You can also put them in at an angle so that more is in the gravel. At our bands and powers the Radio Frequency Currents will not flow deep in the ground. And good luck with the ...

Earthing the shack

Hi Meg. I like to earth my shack four ways. An Electrical Earth for the power, which should be part of the earth wiring in Australia and NZ anyway. Then I provide an RF or Signal Earth. This I raise by fixing a section of square racking material - unpainted and unanodised - to the bottom of the radi...
