Re: Background noise

There is a SIMPLE answer to this! You need to add in the CTCSS tone for the security company. It sounds like multiple services use the 1 frequency and that can be done rather easily as they won't heard each other either, they all would use their own ctcss tones. Do a CTCSS tone search at night and a...

Re: Aviation HF

I would like to add that the primary frequency does change at night too, 8867 daytime the 5643 at night so therefore when 5643 becomes the primary then 8867 is secondary.

Re: Rubber ducky antenna

I have a "scan ducky" antenna from mobile one and it helps to open up the airband, but the one supplier is not too bad - for local reception that is.

Re: Emergency Driving

In Tasmania it is not legal for SJA to use light and sirens, they are only first aid and have to call the government TAS (Tasmanian Ambulance Service) to assist. The SJA have used light and sirens however in the past as it has been a life threatening condition and may take too long for an ambulance ...

Re: Digital Radio Stations

No sorry, it will be a "data" sound that will be worthless to listen to. If you have digital TV and have listened to ABC Dig Jazz or something like that you can hear the better audio quality, expect the same thing in a different format on local radio, and you can buy such radios from Jayca...

Re: Digital scanner

Dear Richard, From what I have seen there is not another scanner with so many features, however the 996 is not very good on 70-80Mhz range and does have FM radio interference. If you need a different radio a Uniden UBCT9 is good, it does however lack alphatags which I really love. A UBC9000XT is ano...

Re: News videos in here (YouTube)

Why are there so many accidents in WA, 200 people died so far this year from a TEN News report? Are WA roads very safe, I'm shocked that such a large number of people die?

Re: Car accidents, intoxicated and noisy parties...

I'm not sure what is happening in Perth, if I dare beleive Today Tonights report on the Royal Perth Hospital it shows a lot of violence day in, day out. Any reason for such a violent city? I'm glad to be in a safer city of Hobart.

I'm not sure, perhaps studying global warming more would help to save lifes rather than saving a few teaspoons. I'm not going into an argument with the reasons why it is better to study something then another. :)

Re: Two-Way Firemen's Radio is Carried On the Back

I am curious to actually know how the firies do communicate with each other these days, do they use handhelds like that of UHF cb's or headsets?
