My advice would be when they offer an open day where you can go and try the physical abilities tests you go and do them. Then you know what to expect for the physical side.

The crews that are moving in there have been doing some training on the new pump which is why they have been there. The 26th of July is the date ive heard as being operational

I believe handover to FESA was supposed to be earlier this week and will be operational sometime in the next 3 or 4 weeks

The FRS has hose reels on their pumps for first strike operations and ease of operation. At most house fires, car fires or anything smaller than a factory fire they are the easiest thing to use. I dont think it was replacing career guys with volunteers. It was in addition to the career guys. If the volunteers were brought in to cover a strike or something then yes, your asking for trouble. I don't see it as being any different to a large scale bushfire where volunteers and career guys work ...
