Re: Methonal Fires
My brother used to pit crew for a bloke who drove a speedway car. They used to keep a straw broom handy and if they suspected there was a fire they stuck that in first to see if it caught alight.

Re: Series two HSR
Saw what appeared to be 2 new HSR's out on Roe Hwy today. Looked like they may have been coming from the training centre. One was marked Corrigin and the other was Narrogin. Looked good but as I was driving was unable to get photos or a close look at the fleet number.

No single appliance station has a pump only. As m...

Re: Refreshments at fires, etc.
Nothing wrong with a toasted sandwich in the middle of the night. Better than nothing. And lets not forget that the salvoes that come out at all hours of the night are volunteers as well. The last thing they want to hear is a bunch of ungratful firefighters whinging about what food they are getting....

RE the comment on taxi's
They would have been allowed through to the command post as they are used to transfer relief crews for the career FRS guys.

Re: Turnout discussion
The reason they dont leave LTs behind is that for out stations who have them(Perth doesnt normally except maybe in summer)they quite often get redirected to another job before returning to station (especially in summer.). As for normal road and firecall to DBA's. As has been stated a lot of public b...

For 2.4s, 3.4,4.4 etc I think by PTO it means live drive ie you you can pump and roll. This enables you to drive through the bush and fight the fire at the same time. However the pressure you get at the branch depends on the engine revs so if you are just crawling along you may not be getting high e...
