Re: Police vehicles with DFES radios..?

Complete guess but I wonder if the vehicles associated with Task Force Vulcan have been fitted with DFES radios. Could be a combination of convenience (talking to incident controllers at a fireground) as well as safety (if they're on the fireground at an active fire, it'd be good for them to be usin...

Re: General fire discussions

And well fed, gotta remember that! Anyone who's likely to be going out there this afternoon and tonight, my suggestion is - take your own food and water. The area this fire covers means some people could be quite some distance away from the control point and the food. As well as the snack boxes in y...

Re: General fire discussions

It's 'only' 6600 hectares or 16000 acres apparently :P

Looks like I'm out on (hopefully) mop up duty from 1600-2400.

This firemap was posted as part of the alert last night on the DFES page.

This was the shape of the fire area at 7:00pm yesterday:

Re: General fire discussions

I haven't been listening to the Bullsbrook / Pinjar incident. Anyone remember what Comms Plan or Incident Repeater channel they are using? It was MCE2 originally at the start of the fire but then I suspect it grew beyond that so they were possibly using MCE3 as well or some hybrid mishmash of the t...

Re: General fire discussions

Don't know but I'd just like to say - holy smokeballs batman, that was a big fire! Although having a water point with a pump that can deliver 1,000 litres a minute means going for water doesn't take you from the fireground for quite as long. On the flipside it means you don't get much of a rest eith...

Re: Significant bush fires 2014/15

Swan ICV and Jandakot's 12.2 have also been sent to the Bindoon incident. I believe that over 100 firefighters are up there, but none from Swan or Bullsbrook other than the ICV. EDIT: South Coogee's 2.4 has been tasked to the Bindoon fire. That'll be a nice scenic 130+ km drive for them! EDIT 2: And...

Looks like the Canning Mills incident might be a false alarm with smoke drift from the Araluen fire. Area has been checked and no fire found.

I'm quite surprised to see they haven't done that for Monday (tomorrow/today)!
