Seen early AM today on Great Northern Hwy - massive traffic operation - TE209 (Blue XR8), TE206, AG208, AZ250 (Major Crash)and numerous other unmarked Commordore Sedans plus 2 Transport Inspector vehicles all in a roadblock, then a little further up the road was the booze bus. Sounds like they are c...

Re: Transperth Security Vechile

i wonder why they didnt mount the aireal on the lightbar Possibly because the lightbar doesn't act as a very good ground plane and might general electrical noise. Shouldnt be an issue as thats a ground independant antenna. Lots of companies now are opting for smaller, low profile antennas cause the...

Transport inspectors

Hi Guys,

Spotted this one at a house in Midland yesterday.

What do these guys do? Does anyone know what powers they have?

Do they have any Priority Driving Status? Are they allowed to pull over normal cars or just heavy vehicles?

Re: Target Vehicle / Misc. trunking frequencies found

Hmm just did a search on ACMA and they are licened to a Communications Company and the site is St Georges Terrace.

It looks like a motorola trunking system. My guess is they are a security company doing escorts or a surveillance company?

Re: Can i use my scanner on a domestic flight?

i have in my laptop bag a Tait Commercial UHF handheld and a Yaesu VX3 Handheld and have never been quizzed in 3 years of flying.

i guess its the same as your mobile, you can take it on board but not use it to transmit. there is no law saying you cant take in on board!

Re: Contact with ISS

Had a nice signal there tonight on the ISS.

For me is was about S7 but i didnt get a chance to come up, too much traffic.

I did hear VK6GHZ and VK6JRC though

Will try again tomorrow, or better still if i sort my antennas out this weekend it will be much better.

Re: Contact with ISS

Hi Guys,

Just worked the ISS with 2 radios. This is from my QTH. Had tx on 437.800 and rx on 145.800.

Was only about s1 to s3 with about a 3 minute window!!

Will try again next time which is March 18th.
