NCRG hamfest 2010
I'm looking at going to the NCRG hamfest this year.
Can't find where it is held, looked on the NCRG website, it said Bassendean ??
Maybe I will drive around looking for antennas in the car parks.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances
Elleker BFB lost a light tanker in the fire down here on the weekend. Two crew were burnt and taken to hospital. :( We were very lucky, radiation burns to my face and burnt hands from hose whilst extinguishing light tanker. Other crew member had a slight rad burn to hand. Very scary, wind change ca...

Police digital radio for Albany?
It was written in our local paper today.
"Police Minister Rob Johnson said the State Government had already begun work on the Regional Radio Network Replacement
to be implemented over a five-year period to begin in 2010-11"

Re: Ship position receiving and sharing
I've watched ships come and go from Alb port, but unless there is more than one ship they don't broadcast AIS info.
Maybe its a security issue (Terrorist, etc) Don't know.

Re: Ship position receiving and sharing
Hi Grant
Have given up for the time being as we only get about one ship per. week into port,
My antenna was broken by a tree falling in a storm last week
Might have a go in summer with the grain ships coming to port.
My setup seems to work OK other than the Antenna.

Re: Ship position receiving and sharing
Hi Grant
I'm situated near Albany WA,and have tried this for the last two months and only received 3 ships.
The ships only seem to turn on there AIS beacons when they come into the harbor.
As for sharing on the net, I'm only on dialup and not connected very often.

Re: Advanced Licence
Just done the advanced exam in Mt Barker last weekend, found it easier than the standard exam.
Past it with ease.
