Re: PlanePlotter

Yep, trialling.. this is my first opportunity to decode ADS-B. When I click the map button, I noticed the status bar says "Downloading map image" but nothing downloads. No errors. You can get OSM maps as well by using a qualifier key (Alt, shift etc) Might have to make my own. There's some...

Re: PlanePlotter

The only chart that came with it is a low res raster pic of the world called "Globe". By the time you zoom in on the Perth area it's just a few magnified pixels. Vector maps would be better.
If I click on the "Map" button ("Download Map"), nothing happens

Re: Cool little- (or big) cheap gadgets

You need to read the reviews carefully... they sell a lot of junk and some stuff is not what's in the description. O...

Re: getting tracked

The only way you're going to get 18 miles with a handheld like that under normal conditions is on the ocean. 18 miles is more or less from you to the horizon.. probably further. I've got a lot further using 2 watts but that was with a good quality antenna mounted about 4 metres above the roof. Your ...

Re: Review - Funcube Dongle

HARG had a demo of a generic USB DVB-T (Digital TV dongle) running SDR# on the weekend. More or less a poor man's version of the Funcube. That was pretty cool for a $18 device and free software. Hopefully somebody can do a review here soon... There's also a simple program from the same people which ...

Yeah, it's not like they care. They just want a sale. For what it's worth, we have half a dozen of these GME handheld CBs at work and they work very well.
