Re: 40 Chan switch fo GE CB
G'Day arc Never too late :) I have all the info for this CB,s PLL and could mod it with switches but I'm reluctant to do this. I would prefer to keep it in one piece, be it with a new 40 Ch switch. How ever 27MHz is beginning to open and most of the traffic is outside the old 18 channels, very frust...

US GHFS (Mainsail) action
Good Day All :D Decided to have a listen to the US global high frequency radio to see whats happening. The last few times I tuned in it was all very quiet with the standard "Skyking SkyKing do not answer" messages being the only traffic. If you listen to 8.992 or 11.175 MHz at the moment y...

Re: Bloody Computers!
Need to ask the residents that live under the ABC tower. 50kW gets into everything. I mentioned in a previous post that I used to live in Marrangaoo and had to give up SWL because the RF from the ABC short wave regionals was imposing on to every dam thing. My communications receiver at the t...

Re: Bloody Computers!
Plasma TV's, certainly are a noise source :| Also found pool chlorinators to be a shocker, my old one used to generate interference on HF to VHF, had to set it to run at night. Have a lap top and PC with the radios and don't suffer to badly with interference as a matter of fact my Winradio G303 sits...

ICOM PCR-1500
A brief over view of the ICOM PCR-1500. At a later date I'll try and do a more detailed review. All technical details are available from ICOM. Where to start? The main reason the PCR-1500 was purchased was to receive PEOS weather satellites and I can say in this respect the 1500 is great. It's one o...

Re: Bloody Computers!
The gretest joy in my radio listening was when I bought my LCD monitor. You just don't realise how much QRM a standard PC monitor produces. Try listening to HF with an ant any where near an old monitor and frustration will set in.

Re: Transmitters
Thanks for that, makes it look a bit clearer. I had a feeling that sometimes different frquencies carried the same trafic but it's a bit hard to prove with one scanner. I've bought an icom PCR-1500 recently so I should be able to find any shared frequencies by comparing channels with my old ubc9000x...

Transmitters
Gentlemen, a bit of info for a novice please. :?: Is there a different transmitter (or loaction) used for approach, ATIS and Tower? I'm able to receive clear comms from Melborne center and it's associated channels from both planes and ground. I live near Joondalup so I know I'm quite a long way away...

Re: 11175kHz USB
4.724 6.739 8.992 11.175 13.200 15.016 MHz are all listed as frequencies of the GHFS (Mainsale) network. There are other frequencies attached to the network although I've never received any thing on them. Still have some old Radio and Communications (incorporating Amature Radio Action Action and CB ...

Re: Aviation HF
Thanks for the info. :D I new that the aircraft had a secondary channel assigned but not much else. I remember many moons ago that there were huge amounts of traffic on HF, both local and international. One could always get traffic from planes as they flew between Carnarvon, Geraldton and Perth. The...

Re: HF Weather Fax
There's a long history with the WX fax and it's very interesting. Google "VIP Perth Radio" (now closed) and you should be able to get some really interesting information and links on the coastal marine stations. The current WX fax is transmitted from WMV Wiluna WA and VMC Charleville Qld. ...

Re: Aviation HF
Interesting :? They must have a secondary working channel for general comms because I've never heard a plane call on the main freqs with the DTMF tone. More listening required for me. :D 11.396 is another freq that has same traffic as the above. We need to get a international pilot on the board. :) ...

Re: Aviation HF
Also pick this up on a number of HF air channels. I was under the impression that they were confirming the planes squawk frequencies Although that is only a guess on my behalf. Any one clear this up?

CB in Perth
Same thing happened on the old 27mHz :( Couldn't hold a conversation without some XXXXX trying to give you the shits. It got to the point where vigilantes groups formed to find the dead heads and take action. Only problem was that they were as bad as the doods they were after. I found the best and m...
