You cannot receive that frequency on the UV-5R. It is a digital channel and your radio is analog only. Dump the Baofeng and buy a digital scanner.

Re: Returning to Scanning

Well this has so far been a total exercise in frustration. The Sentinel software does nothing for Western Australia and more recently I found Free Scan but that does not work with the 436 scanner. It appears I hit a wall with every move I make. Cheers Dale Sentinel software is used to program the s...

Re: PTA going to digital LTE

How can LTE be used for radio communications? Long story short LTE is radio communications. Mobile phones are nothing more than a radio communications system being driven by some fairly good smarts. PTToC (Press to Talk on Cellular), Network Radios etc all use the mobile phone network as the basis ...

Re: Scaning request

Anyone in the Rockingham or Baldivis area with a DMR capable scanner mind trying to scan these frequencies? 450.175, 510.150, 511.025, 511.425, 511.825 Just for information, the 500 MHz frequencies listed are repeater inputs. Minus 10 MHz to get the repeater outputs, might make monitoring a little ...

Re: Unable to hear Transperth Command anymore?

The Transperth (PTA) radio system has changed to a 3GPP Long Term Evolution (LTE) network using the 1800MHz spectrum. It cannot be scanned.

INFORMATION FOR UBCD436PT AND UBCD536PT OWNERS

INFORMATION FOR UBCD436PT AND UBCD536PT OWNERS RE THE RECENT RELEASE OF THE DMR FIRMWARE UPGRADE IN THE US. If you have been following this story on a well known overseas forum you will have seen that Uniden America is bascially keeping this latest firmware upgrade in house, that is no international...

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

That, unfortunately, is the problem. The scanner's capabilities are set in stone. The new digital modes (those that aren't encrypted, anyway) are receivable but not with a handheld scanner, but using a Software Defined Radio. An SDR is essentially a USB TV tuner and some clever software on your PC....

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

No one is suggesting it is perfect, nothing is. But most of the firmware updates apparent in the US are to do with changes in their 800 MHz trunking assignments and the move to 700 MHz by many public safety agencies. We obviously have not had the same changes therefore the lack of firmware updates....

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

I agree Yorky, as you said for something so expensive you would think we would get firmware updates like the US counterpart. I have emailed Uniden so will be interesting to see what they say. Ever stop to think that no firmware updates have been issued because they are not needed? What is wrong wit...
