Re: Scanners in the news (Tasmania)

This is the reason why when we're doing SES excercises we regularly say Excercise Only. That way people don't think they slept through an earthquake 5 minutes ago, or come to assist in a search that's going on. :P And with that said, one must wonder what the eavesdroppers were thinking ringing the ...

Just had to ask because auntys_eyes had said that it was spotted at a traffic stop, given that they are located in Greenmount - WA and the crewman has QLD plates I was a little unsure. Cheers..

Re: Qld Police - Crewman

Nice pics, was it taken in WA or QLD?

Every 24hr station has them in Vic, when they were first introduced a guy kicked his way out of the roof whilst in custody.

Re: Uniden UBC760XLT

I spotted a Uniden UBC760XLT in an unnamed Cash Converters (its MINE!) the other day for $129 and I wanted opinions on if you think this is an alright price for the unit (and any common problems/useful points etc). You've done okay with that at $129, apart from the advice Steve has given up there i...

Re: New tab/window

My own opinion is that people should manage their own link behaviour - I mostly open new links from pages into new tabs by clicking with the mouse wheel button (or CTRL+LeftClick for ancient mice that have no wheel ;) ). It's surprising how quickly you can train yourself to do that without even thi...

Re: Anyone shed some info on the ubc120xlt

The scanner will not pick up police digital frequency even if you are right next to the transmitter. I've had a rough time explaining myself in this thread... My question was a tricky one to explain but got the answer I was looking for at the end!! Shopped around for this question and had a ...

Re: Anyone shed some info on the ubc120xlt

Digital in the context in which radio's that police use, is not 2.4GHZ, it's a digital transmission in either the VHF or UHF band.

Re: Anyone shed some info on the ubc120xlt

That's not exactly what I was looking for, my question relates to the boundaries of the "close call" feature. I had a 72XLT two years back but never actually got any use out of it so I am trying to confirm as much as possible before spending money on one of it's successors. My question is:...

Re: Anyone shed some info on the ubc120xlt

Meg, does the close call function (on the 93xlt) work for all types of transmissions? Say I am in a hospital and they send a pager signal will it give me that frequency? How about other services such as trunking, cordless phones ect?

Re: amatuer radio shop in perth

Anyone purchased from http://www.prestigecom.net.au ?? I'm looking at buying another scanner and they appear to have good prices, while I don't like who they use to ship goods out with I am wondering what experiences have had with them.

Re: Gday all

Welcome mate! I think you'd find more people using LSB or USB as opposed to AM for obvious reasons. Others over in WA might be able to help you further, I don't think you'll get any use out of the Uniden but the old door stop might be of some use if it's setup properly! :)

Re: Taxis

Bonez take your time, hopefully we can nail this one on the head!! Robbage do you have the name of the program or a download link handy? I wouldn't mind giving it a go, might be able to help fix a few other devices that I connect up and record.
