In NSW you do an 8 week full time course before going on the road as a Student Ambulance Officer, I believe its the same in QLD and SA.
And here in WA we do a 14 week course AFTER the first year of Uni before we hit the road.

Yeah, it does take a bit of getting used to. But if it works (aerodynamics and Lightwise) - main thing. I actually quite like it now (mind you, haven't seen one in real life yet). The whole ambulance system is different is Germany. there is more work done in the ambulance. The patient is stuck insid...

The moduls are of German make, Haensch: http://www.fg-haensch.de/index.php?pare ... 5&idlang=2

And you'll hardly find green ambulances on European mainland. Different countries, different customs.

New Sprinter Ambulance...Overseas

For a bit of a comparison, I thought I'd show you a model that has hit the markets in Europe. Nice and curvy... http://www.promedica-rettungsdienst.de/img/news/neuer_rtw_lpz/gross/L-PM-6004-Delfis-05.jpg http://www.promedica-rettungsdienst.de/img/news/neuer_rtw_lpz/gross/L-PM-6004-Delfis-01.jpg http...

Guys, the time has come to say goodbye to big engines...they're a dying breed, mark my words. The police should be setting a precedence (as you know, you can get a good bang for your buck out of 6 or even 4 cylinders).

My two cents worth...and I won't get pulled in to an argument.

Nice and small to chuck around the city, great lightbar, uses less petrol than a commodore.

Any feedback from the officers?

Cheers for the info! Then its about time they bouth decent lights. I vaguely remember someone posted a light tanker with a LED Bar. Should happen more often :) And stick some sidefacing LEDs on the front. Bright sunlight, dim emergency lights mounted at the rear of the vehicle and intersections don'...

For a better view of the emergency lights at intersections it would be great if they a) would be screwed on the roof of the cab, further forwards, and b) they would be mounted on an angle, V Shabed (similar to the Vector Lightbar). Failing this, stick some nice LED repeaters facing sidewards at the ...

... Our ambos used to sound like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnvhE9XyFa0 (Can't tell that I'm bored at work today? :-) ) Germany (and a lot of other European countries) still have the old NeeNaw sirens. The electronic ones are OK, the compressed air ones are KICK ASS :) but if you have the...

How can you tell that the Ambulance is of older production? Look at the mirrors, thats the biggest give away. The first aid post pictured above is the earlier model - as far as I'm aware they have all been pasted off to VFAS or country volunteer centres. There are two different models with the dual...
