FAQ: List of Australian UHF CB repeaters
http://www.prestigecom.net.au/latestnews/default.asp?section=view&id=50 These are ones that are licensed. Because of abuse, cost of licensing and maintainence, losing the site etc many repeaters appear and disappear without warning. Just because a repeater is in this or the ACMA lists, doesn't n...
Re: Over 5 watts?
Hi all, I was wondering if there is any Gov. department of some sort that monitors the repeater channels? Because I hear it is illegal to have over 5 watts, but it's quite obvious on channel 8 (Perth) that people have more than 5 watts output. ****having a whinge because I get squashed all the time...

If you want to spend the extra $100, buy a good quality amateur radio dual-band (2m/70cm) handheld antenna (or external antenna if you want to use the radio in your car) and attach it to a 72XLT. The quality of the antenna is about the biggest determinant of radio performance. I second that. Furthe...

Re: What happened to 27 MHz SSB?
I had a look at Prestigecom.net.au for some scanners and cordless phones, and see that although 27MHz AM CB radios are still made, there is no sign of SSB units. Doesn't anybody use these anymore? Yeah, they're still made. We're at the bottom of the 11 year solar cycle right now so the conditions a...

Emcom Communications online web store
Hi All.
This group have some interesting radio related stuff in their web store. I haven't used them at all but it beats trying to import stuff from the states or convince Dick Smith to stock these things again.
The URL is:

Hi goswa.goswa wrote: 1: clean skin
Clean skin means that the person doesn't have what we'd call a police record. They haven't ever been arrested, etc.
Picked up the tail end of a conversation on the FESA channel tonight. Rescue 65 was talking to them about landing on an oval at Margaret River for transport to a hospital. I just put a 78Mhz capable radio on the car and Heard Rescue 65 talking to 6IP going to that incident near Margaret River. They...

Re: Government Radio Network
I have noticed other states have what they call the GRN, this is used by all of the governments departments, do we have that here. There is also a radio channel called life line, this is a radio network between all of the essential services, does this get used. I haven't heard of it. Are you talkin...
