Re: Antenna Question

Has anyone listened to Channel 3 repeater at night? Well dont.. It's like a bloody circus... I switched it on the other night, and it's absolute mayhem - there is actually no point to this channel. Some old geriatric gets on there from down south and just repeats himself over and over and over, peop...

Antenna Question

G'day all I have a question regarding the space between antenna's. Basically I have a 27Mhz whip (2M), a 6db UHF whip, vertical scanner antenna, and my new 9db 3M UHF antenna. I want to mount all of these in the same location on my roof (customised mounting bracket). If I have these too close togeth...

Re: News about new 80ch UHF CB

Oh, so the new channels are receive only?

I found the iCom Pro-400 holds an extra 48 channels (88 in total).
I'm confused by all this, think I'm going to keep my Uniden UHF for the moment..

Re: Channel 7 Repeater (Mandurah) - What Happened?

Channel 7 repeater has been taken down unfortunatley, I'm not sure why, something to do with not being able to form a repeater group. It now sits in someone's shed collecting dust.

I found out on the weekend from some users of Channel 3.

Re: BNC (PL259) Custom Wall PLate.. Help?

Ahh huh! I shall use the better stuff then, I don't really want to lose signal :D I'm still deciding on whether to solder up a SO239 Female wall plug, or just have the cable running straight into the room (don't cut it). Lightning strikes are a concern, as someone mentioned before, there would be a ...

Re: News about new 80ch UHF CB

Absolutley..
Basicly everyone who wants to use the new channels will have to buy another rig..

Just looked at Uniden, GME and iCom's websites.. They don't make and 80 channel shack!
Isn't this happening as of Jan next year??

Re: News about new 80ch UHF CB

Wow! I'd love to be in UHF sales when this comes into play!

Was speaking to someone on ch3 repeater the other night, he said GME are taking pre orders for a new 80 channel radio.
Does anyone know any more about these?

Re: BNC (PL259) Custom Wall PLate.. Help?

Thanks for that everyone. I've got a pretty decent antenna on it's way, so signal loss shouldn't be too much of a problem. I think I'll go for the wall plate option, just so it looks a bit neater if I ever sell the house. I've been told to use RG213 coax, honestly is there much of a difference betwe...

BNC (PL259) Custom Wall PLate.. Help?

Hello I am installing a new 12db base antenna on the side wall of my house, I want to do a proper job and run the coax through the roof and down to a wall plate in my radio room. I was thinking about making a custom PL259 wall plate. The idea is have the female end in the wall plate and create a cus...

Re: Suggestions for a UHF Handheld.

We just bought three UH076sx Uniden 5w handhelds to use at work, they are great.
Battery lasts a long time, and they are quite rugged and splash proof.

I wouldn't go past either GME or Uniden

Channel 7 Repeater (Mandurah) - What Happened?

Hello all

I've been off the air for a couple of years now, but have blown the dust of my radio's again and am back in business.
Much to my horror - I was not able to access Channel 7 repeater in Mandurah, but could hit channel 4, 6 and of course 3.
Where has it gone? and why?

hey all. Just a news update on this post. My ex girlfriend used to go out with Chadd Walton right up to just before he passed on. The driver of the vehicle was recently found guilty, and will be sentenced in 6 weeks. Most likely looking at jail time unfortunatley. My condolences for Chadd's mum, and...
