Re: 27Mhz SSB

Thanks for the reply.

I just purchased a Galaxy 979, next stop will have to be a GME PSA123 power supply and antenna so I will give it a go and see. I have also heard that skip has been quite good the last few years so it will be interesting get it all set up and try.

27Mhz SSB

Hello All I bought a Uniden UBCD396XT last summer, figured I would reminisce my youth when I used to listen to them and to be honest I can't hear much being in country WA other than the local FESA in summer for the bushfires so not sure I can justify having a $400 scanner sitting around only to list...

Re: Frequencies list

Thanks for the reply, being about three hours from Perth and about an hour inland from the coast it doesn't give me too many options with the repeaters until I can afford a decent antenna but will give it a go. :)

Frequencies list

Hello All I will be studying for my Foundation licence shortly and purchased a radio so I can listen in to get a better idea on how it all works and wondered if anyone has a list of frequencies I can program into the radio on the 2m and 70cm bands. The last time I used a CB was back in the 80's so i...

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

If not now then very soon, basically everything you have learned about scanning will be redundant. The days of entering a frequency and away you would go are gone. Today when have multiple digital platforms to deal with not just P25, but DMR, NXDN/IDAS, P25 Phase II, GSM-R and TETRA to name but a f...

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

No one is suggesting it is perfect, nothing is. But most of the firmware updates apparent in the US are to do with changes in their 800 MHz trunking assignments and the move to 700 MHz by many public safety agencies. We obviously have not had the same changes therefore the lack of firmware updates....

Re: UBC396XT Firmware

I agree Yorky, as you said for something so expensive you would think we would get firmware updates like the US counterpart. I have emailed Uniden so will be interesting to see what they say. Ever stop to think that no firmware updates have been issued because they are not needed? What is wrong wit...

Re: Antenna question

Thanks Steve Certainly looks like it's an expensive hobby to get set up for the first time. I would hate to buy a decent antenna, cable and amp only to find that there just isn't enough to listen to in my area. :) That's why I got a decent handheld scanner. Plugs into an adaptor at home, or runs of...

UBC396XT Firmware

I did a quick search of the forums but couldn't see anyone asking this so thought I'd ask if there was ever firmware updates for the Australian version of the 396XT, the US version seems to of had quite a few updates. All I could find online was a firmware update for compatibility with UBC RH96 remo...

Re: Antenna question

I keep saying dipole for some reason, meant discone.

Might look at getting a discone then, thanks for the advice everyone.

One other question, would anyone have a link to the correct scanner amplifier?
