Re: News: $200m Huawei contract to upgrade Perth train radios scrapped

Have the PTA found an acceptable alternative yet?

Otherwise they may have to roll out analog repeaters for the tunnel networks along the airport link, and for the Forrestfield area in general.

Re: Catastrophic fire warning for Eucla - First of many?

Happened earlier this month. Once the low lying shrub starts, the fire is fast, hot, and deadly. Heathland fires are hard to slow.

Thanks Yorky.

I don't mind programming it through the front panel, as I've only got ~10 or so key frequencies to put in it, and then I'll add more as I scan.

Re: DFES digital

it doesn't look like there's going be any change for DFES for at least 5 years at this stage. I'd double that estimate. When the digital system DOES get rolled out, there will be a long period of overlap with both systems active to account for all the handheld and vehicle radios that need to ...

Uniden usds100

I bit the bullet, and ordered one of these digital scanners. Is there a way to make a CSV of all the frequencies I want it to scan, and place it on the device? I can spin up a Windows VM to get it done if necessary.

Re: DFES digital

Things may be changing soon - the push for digital is approaching. I'd suggest purchasing a digital scanner if you want to listen to DFES in 2030 onwards.

You should still receive fine over the rubber ducky antenna. Antenna matching really only works for tx.

Re: DFES digital

If you want to hear what it's like in SA, here is an audio feed to them: https://m.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/21928 They have a P25 system. It sounds awful compared to our analog system. Have a listen. In marginal areas they break up in a very inaudible way, whereas with analogue, we've been able ...

Or you can just use an FM radio station...

Mine still drifts due to temperature. It's time to get a proper SDR reciever.

+1 on Zello, sadly it's a closed-source application - I'd like to see it become a bit more open for most uses.

Re: DFES digital

No, they have something else - The APX-8000s are a good bit of kit. But extremely expensive.
