Re: Painting ants
Grab the paint you want, grab a non metallic version and then spray it onto say a bit of A4 paper and stick it in the microwave (after the paint dries fully). Stick it on for 20 or 30 seconds and then if the paint is nice and cool it's good to use on the antenna as it will be RF transparent.

Re: Tracking of Fire Appliances
The tender was, and the installations I've seen in metro so far are, 4G + sat failover. 4G, sat and gps are all in one convenient little roof mounted antenna. They're quite a good bit of kit and as TROAM has said a lot of features.

Most of the time no. WAPOL also have SES 1 to 20 programmed into their vehicle and handheld radios.

Re: local channel of an incident
Heya,
Generally it's WAERN 354 (VHF Hi Band) however could be between 354-359 depending on other incidents in close proximity.
If mid band generally 99 when working with Airport Fire. Mid band HHs aren't common anymore.

Re: DFES 6AR
A small mag base antenna of the net will probably do, however I can't help but recommend the Diamond X series antennas. I've got two of these and they work a treat. Obviously will be a big improvement but will also be a great base station antenna for 2m/70cm if you want to go do your foundation or s...
