Re: General Aviation Discussion

The 787 Dreamliner looks like a pretty swish plane. I wouldn't turn down a flight on one of those.

Re: 27 MHz

Reviving an old thread here... I spent a few minutes listening to the 27 MHz CB channels this afternoon, and I can confirm that there is still a little bit of life out there. I regularly check the frequencies, and usually I can only just hear the modulation. But today I caught a good conversation st...

Re: WAPol Kalbarri

Thanks for the pictures. The picture of the station brings back some fond childhood memories; my Dad was an Ambo in a small town in QLD. There's something about small town stations that I like. On a side note, I misread "TADIS" initially. I thought this thread was diverging into the realm ...

Re: UHF CB DX

Nice photo of a duct on the page that link goes to.

I usually only listen to the FM broadcast stations that I have programmed into my receiver. Maybe it's time I turned the dial through the band and see if I can spot anything different.

Thanks. Hopefully, I'll be doing the Foundation level testing in a few weeks.

Back to the beacon... I sometimes leave it playing quietly in the background while I fall asleep. I guess whale sounds aren't my thing. :P

UHF CB DX

While I was listening to the chatter on the channel 6 repeater today, someone managed to get a call through with a fair bit of distance. Our Ch. 6 repeater is based near Maleny, QLD. The caller stated that he was in Ipswich, QLD. If he was telling the truth, and using legit 5 watt gear, that's a pre...

Re: Non-directional beacons

Sorry for the thread necro, but I didn't see much point in creating a new topic. From where I live North of Brisbane, I can always receive the NDB from the airport at Coolangatta, near the border between QLD and NSW. It would be just a shade over 130 km in a straight line. It transmits on 278 or 279...

Nice! If I was even halfway competent for the job I'd apply for it, even though I'm on the other side of the country.

Re: New Guy Here From Rockingham

Welcome to the forum! :) This is my first post on here also.

I've often looked at the Uniden UBC355XLT and been tempted. I hope you enjoy using it for a long time to come.

Unfortunately, I don't have any information at hand to help you with what you could hear around Rockinham.
