Re: Software for scanning trunked networks with debian linux and RTL-SDR

I have successfully used DSD with a discriminator tap inside a Uniden 796 scanner and fed into an old 2011 Toshiba laptop. If you dont have any understanding of the pros and cons of discriminator taps or Software defined radio you are better off finding somebody who knows what they are doing (my hel...

At Australian Civilian airports it is a male voice

Re: Digital Decoder software

If you can find somebody to do the discriminator tap modification, digital decoding via DSDPlus works a treat on an analogue scanner. My first tapped scanner was a analog Uniden UBC780XLT (2000 vintage), which lasted several years until the frequency display light gave up. My second and current tapp...

The radio stations you are hearing are, if I am correct, are the individual station talkgroups for the Australian Traffic Network. Each Radio station has a separate talkgroup. For LTR systems the likely progression is either Kenwood's Nexedge or Motorola's TRBO. The analogue LTR won't be around for ever.

ID tracker http://bellsouthpwp.net/k/d/kd5eis/IDTracker/IDTracker.htm You can also record to tie in with the talkgroup log. I have never figured out how the recording side of it works. It is obviously based on how your PC or laptop is configured, because what works for one person doesn't seem to wor...

1004Mhz

I am fairly sure that it is a harmonic from the 865-870Mhz trunking band.

I had the same experience back in 1999 when I was new to trunking and equipped with a UBC3000xlt - i was picking up 865Mhz images.
