The thicker the wire, the wider the bandwidth. At 27mHz, not all that important.

there is also an android version that is heaps easier to set up and use (using the same rtl dongles) but alas no trunking for it yet. I use it on my tablet at work. All modes. Called SDR Touch

The Wouxun is not type compliant and cannot be licensed on the land mobile service. It can only be used legally on amateur frequencies by a licensed amateuer radio operator. The use of a Wouxun radio on DFES (or any other frequencies other than amateur radio frequencies by a licensed amateur radio operator) is illegal. DFES has also a circular out banning the use of these types of radio.

You will get better isolation if you separate the antennas vertically rather than horizontally. Even then you may get some desensing as most amateur radios dont have a sharp enough front end.
