There were several Operations officers and their assistants based at the show grounds during the fol...

Re: Bridgetown fire

Yesterday morning, at shift change, the carpark was overflowing. There was a stream of buses and taxi's to transport the troops in and out plus all the fire units (of all services, dec, fesa, bfs, wapres, mining companies, etc). Full credit to the DEC for the set up. Special mention must go to to the...

Re: Bridgetown Fire

I got a bit of a shock driving through down South West highway first thing this morning and finding that a house on the corner was just smoking stumps and several sheds were missing that were there when I left yesterday. The normally well grassed areas were all gone. Driving up Hesters hill and seei...

468.750 is ch37 not 26 (468.475 and a fixed repeater)if my memory serves me right. From memory also it is a special event channel and is/was ambulatory. I have seen/heard the repeater installed in aircraft and used to provide coverage for bikie runs, watching over the Queen when she came to Oz and o...

Re: TNC

I use a sound card interface (homebrew) for both tx and rx in the digital modes. Mine has 600 ohm tranformers for audio (tx and rx) and optocoupler isolation for Ptt control. There are plenty of designs on the net and all the parts are usually available from Jaycar or Altronics. I use "Multipsk...

Re: 23 channel CB

Re: Two-Way Firemen's Radio is Carried On the Back

I have pictures of the Wagner HF manpack we used to carry in the bush with the SES complete with 6ft solid whip and sealed lead acid batteries. These were still in use until the early 90's. After that we got portable repeaters and could set up proper communications with handhelds. I can email them t...

Meg,
You can put me down as seconder if you still need. Some members increase the amount to round off and the bit extra goes as a donation.
