Re: Campbell Barracks Swanbourne Antennas

These 152 Squadron Antennae were originally on top of the Hill North of the Firing Range. They were moved down to the barracks as the land they were on was turned into public open space. If you know where to look, you can still see some of the concrete foundations used up the hill.

Re: interesting army 4x4s

Probably a new issue to a NSW or QLD Regiment as they are built in SA in Port Adelaide. When I was working in SA, they used to come passed on flat beds as well as ASLAV past our office. Seen some of the the test configurations they did for ASLAV with different gun mounts with kits form the US, UK an...

Re: Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting

I would imagine it would be call specific. so youd still be able to ring certin numbers (000 or 131 444 ect), and band specific too, so police/fire brigade/ambulance ect. would still be able to use their phones/radios/dispatch computers and AVL wich all use mobile phone inferstucture to operate 100...

The Caversham site was designed as a medium bomber base in WW2 and never put into use by them, RAAF used it untli 1945 for training. It was used for the Australian Grand Prix in 1957 and 1962 and was also used for the 6 hour Le Mans between 1955 and 1968 then was resumed for military activities. The...

Re: Huge VLF Transmission Site at Exmouth

Having been at Pot Shot, the underground areas are even better, tower zero goes down 4 levels, 2 are general access the last two are restricted access, according to the Boeing guy I was talking to, it was due to the high voltages down below. Great facility to have a look around if you get to do some...

Friends have managed too save their house at Toodyay, but have lost half their cows and all of their stock feed, looks like they may have to shut down their milk business for a while, apparently they have heard that some houses have been lost. Hopefully no lives will be lost.

You see these old series 3 rolling around and think, what the hell is the ESL paying...... makes me wonder. Keep safe out there guys. Probably those lovely Landcruiser Wagons and Subaru Forresters that you see driving around. Had two "lecturers" do fire safety lecture at a primary school,...

After spending time in the UK, I believe, think that they would go down the path of Community Support Officers. The powers that all PCSOs have at present are: Issue fixed penalty notices for traffic offences, littering, breach of dog control orders and cycling on a footpath Require name and address...

The police deserve the pay rise along with the other emergency services. The only reason Grant Dorrington whinges is because he guts a percentage of the fines to fund his useless department that hasn't come up with any real new answers to road safety. His let's "lower the speed limit" rant...

Definately known as Wallaby Airlines for any RAAF aircraft flight, Wallby is also the call signs for Caribou. Emu was used during Vietnam as a call sign for "slicks" or helicopters from 9 Sqn RAAF that had been modified with various weapons. Emu is the common call sign for Blackhawks as th...
