xr8edute wrote:So aunty, why does this vehicle even have a siren fitted?
When it was first aquired it was used as a priority vehicle hence fitted with both lights and siren. Since then the vehicle's role has changed, and also standards for priority authorised vehicles have changed (she's getting a bit old).

Re: Vehicle callsign spreadsheet

Most Police vehicles have a 5 character alpha-numeric call sign, normally consisting of 2 letters and 3 numbers. For most station and District vehicles the standard protocol is 1st letter= District, 2nd letter= Station, 1st number= Category, 2nd+3rd number= Sub Category & vehicle number OR vehic...

Re: Water corp Fire support

Firstly, do not get confused with the overuse of the often incorrect term "lights & sirens". Just because a vehicle has warning lights fitted it does NOT automatically mean it has a siren fitted as well. The two are not mutually inclusive. Some vehicles, for whatever reason, have warni...

Re: !

Red (P2) on the deltas would be understandable as magenta (P3) is only for pulling over vehicles for the purpose of inspection, as per Transport's warning lamps guide, apparently? Personally i think they should have P1 the job they do is tip top and definitely a necessity! Transit Officer vehicles ...

...the Department of Transport's own guide for installation and use of warning lamps says that rangers are entitled to red lights... Yes, but only in very specific circumstances... "In some Local Government Districts the Ranger is also the first response officer for bush fires. These vehicles ...

Technically magenta. Only to be activated when the vehicle is stationary. As for the colour of the plastic covers on the light bars... well, that's always been a matter of individual interpretation,

Re: [WF] SJA Paramedic Supervisor

Does anyone know if SJA needed to get approval to fit and use red/blue lights on these vehicles? I believe the simple answer would be yes. The fitting of red/blue/white lights and/or siren denotes an Emergency Vehicle, not neccesarily an ambulance. The definition of an emergency vehicle is not it's...

Re: Dealing with an open mic

I believe the radios 'time-out' after a pre determined time due to the exact reason you have stated. After 'x' seconds of transmition the radio automatically returns to receive. That is why you often here people break up long messages in to shorter messages with "... more to follow, over"....

Re: Vehicle callsign spreadsheet

Ok, this one's got me guessing :? . Yesterday i was following OV100, a Falcon ute w/pod, for a while on the freeway. Firstly, i know 'O' is the Peel (Mandurah) District, but what station is 'OV'? And secondly, i was under the impression that '100' callsigns were for station (base) radios not vehicle...
