They have a variety of powers and their fines are backed up by the Fines Enforcement Registry, same as being fined by the Police or Transits.

Being a caution, what are you worried about.......there shouldn't be a penalty attached.

I don't get what you are asking, if the Transit Officers broke the law while on duty or off duty they would be subject to the same laws as anyone else.

When they are on PTA property that is correct.

As goes with Police acting off duty, it is a very dangerous practice as you do not have any equipment or backup.

I worked for the same Council as JMMW and in my time of employment I was assaulted on one occasion. I arrested the offender and he was subsequently charged with Assaulting a Public Officer....and was found guilty in the Magistrates Court. I'm sure if the Transits could get enough people they would do the lot, you might find that Wilson will employ some of the Secureforce guys who already do the job.

Transit Officers have powers on ALL PTA and associated property. This includes railway stations, bus stations, bus stops, ferry terminals and anything attached to or associated with PTA property.
