Re: unknown new toy

I also saw this http://www.vxstd.com.au/commercial/vx_1700.html Can this transmit to overseas? on shortwave? I had a look at this radio. Yeah, it has capability of transmitting from 1.600 to 30.000 MHz which is basically the Shortwave broadcast band. But, with only 100 watt of power I don't think y...

Re: My First Scanner (Communications Receiver) ICOM IC-R6

@Blinky : My first SWL antenna was just plastic coated copper wire about 20 metres long and around 7 metres high off the ground. 20 meters ? Wow, that is really long :o So how do you install it ? Stretch is across 2 poles ? That remind me of something I have but haven't used it yet. I have this Sang...

Re: My First Scanner (Communications Receiver) ICOM IC-R6

By a long length of wire I would say many metres long and high as possible. @Blinky : What sort of wire are you talking about ? Is is special wires made for antenna ? Anyway, I am thinking of using a discone antenna mounted on my roof top and connect it to my IC-R6. I have read it in an article som...

Re: Lion Air ATR 72-500

@written_fiction : Yeah, Thank's for that. This pictures was taken a few month ago. I just notice that the control tower and the fire station in the background haven't changed at all since I was a kid growing up there. This is the kind of airport where you can walk around on the tarmac freely :)

Police & St John Ambulance

I just bought my scanner recently and I realise that WAPOL and St John Ambulance have gone digitally encrypted. Do I missed out a lot of the excitement ? I should have bought it a long time ago :( I always procrastinated before.

Re: system on board the QV1 building

I stumbled across these frequencies 416.660 MHz (ACN 054 065 011 Pty Ltd) while browsing across the band at my lunch time. I check the ACMA for their registration and google the ACN number and found this article which happens to contain their ACN number. They were bitching about their boss for so lo...

Jandakot ATIS 281 kHz

Just out of curiosity, this is the Jandakot ATIS 281 kHz transmitter. It's loud and clear from where I live. Interesting

Re: Secureforce freqs

I tried the 450.300 MHz today in Perth and it sounds like pulsating chirping noise and very loud too. I think it's owned by City of Perth now. http://web.acma.gov.au/pls/radcom/assignment_search.lookup?pACCESS_ID=8203278&pDEVICE_ID=8214230 Assignments for this Licence Results 1 - 1 of 1 assignme...

Re: Transperth Buses

What I think is weird is that when I tried to search the 473.850 Mhz at ACMA it came up with below results but none of them is Public Transport Authority :? (However I can hear the transmission loud and clear from Cockburn Central ) Felt really weird when I heard it while I was in one of the bus (I ...

Re: Narrowband Radios

@Spartacus : :-k Wow, that's really interesting ! So the old radio has more frequency coverage then the modern one. May be something to do with the sound quality ? Or may be they cannot do the FM Stereo with Narrowband ? I have to reasearch on that. :smt017 Thank's anyway for the post.
