Re: Social media and emergencies

One app I have found to be good is emergency aus. It combines both Dec and DFES warnings as well as Dec planned burns information. It also includes a page for users to report anything the see themselves including photos. It is claimed to be very thoroughly checked but now and again some clowns keep ...

Re: Hurricane Sandy

Sad to hear that a Fire Fighter among the 15 confirmed deaths so far. A really great phone app called Tunein is great for listening not only to 6IP/6AR but emergency services comms channels all over the world. Was listening to a few of the New York fire channels today and I must take my hat off to t...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

The F 350 would be a standard licence and a canter would only be a LR licence if that, but you are right in that anything above a standard licence would be an issue... Forgot about that... To get a MR is only be a couple of hundred depending how many lessons you took but that is enough to stop peop...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

At the end of the day with fires getting bigger and badder FESA should also be focusing on the larger vehicles like DEC does, the LT, although very useful and should always be around should not be the "back bone" of the FESA bushfire fighting fleet, FESA should have more single cab 4x4 can...

Re: General fire discussions

W F posted at 2.50pm on significant bushfires that Claremont, Perth 2nd, Success & Rocko called in to Banjup fire. Why wouldn't 6AR have called in Success first? - they are actually the closest CFRS station. I was listening briefly and i realise that Claremont was covering Canning vale FS and P...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

Yeh Bullsbrooks replacement 7.2 is also not new, Ex Toodyay 7.2, 21 year old Ford Cargo. It's only a temporary one so it will be fine for what we need. It's unique and it's got character unlike all other generic appliances.

Re: Helitak Thread

Can anyone confirm whether or not it has the capability to do segmented drops or controlled flow drops like the ones over east do? If so then there wouldn't be an issue of safety when dropping regardless of the ammount of water it carries

Anyone know if Marty is still down at Jandakot? if so it seams strange today that instead of turning Marty out to the Harrisdale parks incident today which is not very far at all from Jandakot they send out 2 x Helitaks and a type 1. Re: General fire discussions

Well if Bindoon is anything to go by were all in trouble. Maybe we should get the people who organized the construction of the control point to organize the fires too, they did a great job.
