Re: Project Loon Balloon Crosses WA Coast

It's definitely an interesting concept. If only more would get blown in our direction so we could see how they group together. Whilst I don't know how many balloons will be required for a given area of coverage, their ability to change altitude like a traditional hot air balloon allows them to have ...

Another has just flown over the Swan River and CBD, then headed to the coastline and followed it north, and then south towards Fremantle. Call sign of TIGER15.

Re: Callsign DNGO20 Tail A32-426

Thanks for the update Glen.

DNGO20 left RAAF Base Pearce this morning headed for Alice Springs, then on to RAAF Base Townsville, so we may have seen the last of Black Hawk training this time around.

Though, there are still a few days left in the publicised training period (20/02 to 25/03).

Re: Callsign DNGO20 Tail A32-426

Though this time DNGO20 is circling different suburbs than the other night, as well as tracking over the ocean.

Meanwhile, VH-WPE has been up for the last couple of hours circling the CBD, just north and south of the Swan River.

Re: Callsign DNGO20 Tail A32-426

Speaking of aircraft with DNGO callsigns, a couple of weeks ago I spotted DNGO03 (A32-437) in town flying some peculiar routes. Re: FBIR623

Can confirm that FBIR623 (currently VH-YUQ) is for coordinating aerial appliances and does not have a water tank fitted. Managed to see it fly overhead yesterday while also watching FlightAware. For a full list of this season's aerial appliances and a photo of FBIR623, take a look here: http://www.a...

Re: Ch 10 helicopter

Based on the last known registrations I have for the Channel 9 and Channel 10 helicopters, it looks like 9's, for the moment, is still in service. Whilst 10's has indeed been returned and possibly re-tasked, with fairly regular flights out of Jandakot. Channel 9 - http://flightaware.com/live/flight/...

Hi Colin, The smoke is from a fire located in the SW of the state. The Department of Parks and Wildlife has issued a smoke alert for areas from Walpole to Geraldton and inland to Toodyay and Mount Barker. The smoke is from a bushfire that started in Mount Roe National Park, approximately 28km north-...
