Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Fair enough.

Good to know how different systems, and organisations, are tackling what is tantamount to the same issue.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Thanks for that information,alleycat.

If you are programming via PC, and using the standard programme that comes with the 396, do you need to know the TGID's, or do you simply put in all the stated frequencies for the location ?

Does it matter what order the frequencies are entered ?

Re: Kalgoorlie

Will depend on the type of system in use, and whether encrypted. In NSW, some of the country areas have gone digital, but not yet encrypted (as opposed to the Metrop areas), and, since the NSW Poliice have simply done a conversion of the standard 468 Mhz band, with the applicable scanner, can be hea...

Re: Kalgoorlie

Suspect that the digital conversion in the Kalgoorlie area occurred last weekend, or early in the week just gone.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Guys.

Judging by what is being heard, or not heard, I suspect that the digital conversion at Kalgoorlie occurred last weekend, or early in the week.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Thanks for all.

I did have a quick check of ACMA after the initial comment about it being 500 Mhz, and did see the allocations for the locations mentioned.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Thanks, but it doesn't sound digital.

What frequency range is being used for the digital - the standard 468 Mhz converted, or something completely different ?

Kalgoorlie

Good afternoon. Listening to the Kalgoorlie stream over the last few days, I have noticed that the non-Kalgoorlie Base side (i.e. the "car" side) of transmissions appears to have been lost, both for the local Kalgoorlie area as well as for the outlying areas (Kambalda, Coolgardie). Does an...

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Thanks.

For other reasons, thought that it might be a little sooner than that.

Re: WA Police Changeover to Digital Radio

Slightly different issue to that being discussed. Does anyone know when the country areas are likely to be converted to digital, especially the Eastern Goldfields (ie. the Kalgoorlie area) ? Will the whole area be converted, or only those channels relating to the city of Kalgoorlie, Boulder ? I now ...

Re: Kalgoorlie streaming scanner now online

Please be aware that, as at tonight, the Kalgoorlie Streaming is back up and operational once again. From what I have so far determined, there have been no fundamental changes made by the feed provider. There is thus still VKI, Kalgoorlie, and various railway channels in the Kalgoorlie area and out ...

Re: Kalgoorlie streaming scanner now online

As regular listeners would be aware, the stream has been down for the last couple of weeks or more, due to a serious infrastructure failure at the end of the stream provider. He initially indicated that he hoped that he would be able to fix the problem fairly quickly, and naturally get back online. ...

Re: Kalgoorlie streaming scanner now online

The stream owner had a major infrastructure failure (his HDD died), and he is still working through ways of fixing the problem. He had hoped that it would be fixed fairly quickly, but such has not been the case. Unfortunately, you will simply have to be patient, and see what happens. As a side issue...

It is down at my end as well.

Was rather indifferent last night, and down this morning.
