Re: Helitak Thread

observer is right. The Sky crane that is here is a smaller version of the big sky crane. As always the media run with what they think they know and in this case they are wrong. Don't always believe what you read or hear from the media.

Re: Private Vehicles

I agree with all of the above but Volunteers shouldn't be braking the law eg: Speeding, let alone displaying blue and red flashing lights with a siren going while making there way down to there station for a fire call. You need to get to the station when you can so that you can man the appliance and...

Kalamunda now turning out to Nilgen fire. Surprising what happens when the Kalamunda CFM turns out as well. It boggles the mind. They even had all swan brigades sitting doing nothing.... So kalamunda, glen forrest and I think chidlow went. What happens if they have a fire?? West swan don't even hav...

Re: Bassendean/Guildford VFRS

Thanks for all the replies, and also for those that have sent pm's to me with additional information. My biggest problem at the moment seems to be distance from each station. As I said Im about 15km to Basso and Guildford, and a similar distance to East Swan (which I only just realised was located ...

Who really wants to spend all night or day on the fireground?
You've got that right. Get in and then get out with minimal loss.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

Hazard a guess, something like a 2.4. They won't be ready until the end of the summer fire season. From what I hear, they will be career FRS 2.4's located on the fringe stations such as Ellenbrook, Midland, Welshpool, Armadale etc to enable greater and timelier first strike capability. I agree. I g...

Re: Water corp Fire support

Why would you give sirens to water corp. They dont require them and they dont need to get to a job in a emergency that's why we have fire trucks.

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

Not sure if you'd call this an appliance as such (no doubt someone will jump in and correct me in no time), but I'll throw it in anyway... Chief Fire/Incident controller for City of Armadale/Kelmscott has a VE sedan, dual LED rear parcel lights (similar to unmarked police lights) on both left and r...

Re: preparing for Career FRS

My undersytanding of the WA Drivers License system is that you must have a C class for a year before applying for a LR, then LR for a year before MR, then MR for a year before HR. Therefore if you currently only have a car (C) license it could be 2 years before you are eligable for a HR license. Ba...

Re: preparing for Career FRS

plus you need H.R. licence and senior first aid before applying now. obzelite, your information is incorrect. I have cut and pasted direct from the 2011 Firefighter Recruitment information pack what is required for your HR and S/First aid. The HR and SFA is required by the time you are selected for ...

Volunteer FRS uniforms

I have noticed that there has been a change in uniforms with the VFRS. Is it true that VFRS are wearing the same uniform as the CFRS because I was at a recent fire in the hills and noticed that Kalamumda VFRS are wearing the same T shirts as the CFRS, correct me if I'm wrong. It was hard to tell if ...

[why doses the little truck follow the big one I thought it would be faster then the big one and get there quiker
All of the above are correct but the main reason is that the pump is there to protect the LT i case of a accident while in motions. The pump is also a lot more visible to all tho...

Re: W.A Fire Appliances

Collie have their new Country Pump (CP17 I am told) and learning how to use it this weekend. Bunbury Career I am told will now not get their new UPH or UPHR (debate has started again on naming) until June or July. Why the hold up?? I'm guessing once all the country stations have been fitted with th...
