Yeah I used to listen to them at Forrestfield all the time, all you hear is shunting and a few other bits and pieces. I know an employee of ARG/QR and she told me that all of the important stuff is done by phone. All loco's have Telstra Next G terminals in them, with GPS tracking and a touch screen ...

From Cockburn South to Avon: Eastern Control
From Avon to West Merredin: Central Control
From West Merredin to just outside Kalgoorlie: EGR control
From outside Kalgoorlie to Parkeston/Kalgoorlie: Kalgoorlie control

it depends on what you want to driver: like frieght or passenger. You could try ARG they are looking for drivers atm!

Does anyone know what engines were on this? I heard that they are building a run around line so they can move train while the line is being cleared and fixed. I also heard trains should be running by thursday.

From what I can work out now the controllers now are:

Eastern Control: From Canningvale to Avon
Central Control: From Avon/Northam to Merredin
Avon Control: Avon Yard and Merredin Yard
GSR (Great Southern Railways): Merredin to West Kalgoorlie
