Get rid of that cr*p Meg. Buy somnething decent... Those Chinese Radio's that Geoff (6NX) sells are garbage.
A well know ICOM Dealer in Perth tells me that Geoff gets them for $39.00 delivered into OZ. He sells them for $99.00 - what a profit on absolute garbage!!!! Arggghhhh!!!

I disagree. I think the radios are fine for what they are. Sure, they have limitations, but as a first radio for someone just starting to get into the hobby, they're not bad.

Everything's relative, two metre man. They do what they claim to do.
As for how much NX sells or buys them for, people don't have to buy them from him. There are other dealers who also sell them. Usually for the same price
(I'd hardly take the word of his competitors either)

Indeed, they are great bang for buck. AR mag gave them a good rap.
*shrug* You know, I've bought a bunch of guitars at different times and generally as a consumer (rather than a wholesaler) I pay about 60% more for them than the shop buys them at. That includes the cheaper Asian made instruments as well as US or Mexican made ones.
The Quansheng does "just work". The manual is a bit of a painful experience, but the audio quality is good and when I don't have the Darling Range smack between me and a repeater (and you really have to be looking out my window right now to see what I mean by that), the coverage seems pretty good.
But hey, don't feel you have to rush out and buy one just cos I said so!
Having imported the Quanshengs for nearly 4 years now, I havent really had any significant problems with them. I actually put a Bird 43 Wattmeter on my original radio the other day (now 4 years old) and it is still puttting out a constant 4.8 watts. Just what I need for a simple handheld.
As for what I pay, a famous Icom dealer wouldnt have a shmick, would not take into account that I get them air shipped over here, would not know that I have absorbed the cost of the newer more capable LI Batteries and the charger into the cost, wouldnt have a shmick what the australian dollar is at the moment and Ive absorbed that as well, considering I pay in USD, plus my shipping costs here in Australia. Plus I actually Pay GST to the Government oh an probably another few ancilliary costs as well, But hey some people just dont have shmick and others dont have two shmicks because they believe them.
As for buyiing them off other dealers, no you cant unless I supply them. Australian ham versions that is.
Atleast i will replace a faulty quansheng on the spot with a new one. Within the 12 month warranty period. Not send it back for months to have it repaired.
Anyway before you believe anything on here, ask first. Im about the most honest ham/dealer you will find in this country.
Oh and just for those who think the quanshengs are "s..." Ive sold well over 1000 of them, many of these people have upgraded to some normal Ham Radio Equipment. and Ive only had about 15 of them back.
Anyway thats the truth from the person that actually knows it. And if another dealer says they know better, I reckon theres a few porky pies there.

The specs look pretty much the same, but cosmetically a couple of small differences. I don't have a red button on mine (they're all black except the keypad bit which is white buttons) and the grille has a slightly different look.
Compare to the pic on Geoff's page http://www.hamshack.com.au/index.php?pr=Quansheng
The ones Geoff sells have repeater offset - got myself a bit lost in that a week or so ago.
Well that was a few quick responses.
How about you ask about shipping.................mine includes it. If I remember correctly the original price was higher, then dropped to match mine but still no shipping.
Also I CHOSE the TG45 and TG25 due to reliability, Size (didnt want too small).
I chose these two due to the fact they would get people on the air at a decent price but proved good service to them. Ive dropped my original radio from my Big 4WD , 4 times. Each time there was no cover and each time it survived. Im happy that it was the radio to get.
Ive got so many people on air it makes me happy. Ive put alot of the profit back into ham radio which I love as a hobby.
I do this to keep my sanity whilst being very ill as well as doing it for Ham radio, not the money.

I don't think anybody other than 2 metre man is questioning your integrity or prices Geoff. Personally I wouldn't buy one because I'm waiting for them to do a dual bander. I'll come see you then
