I just did a trial run with an OpenTracker+ plugged into a Puxing PX-777 (5w handheld) and it looks quite promising. Using the OT+ with an FT-1802 mobile set to 5w had problems getting into a digi from the bottom half of West Coast Hwy. No probs with the PX-777 (could have been the conditions I guess). Antenna is a ¼ wave mag base at the moment.
Interfacing was cheap and easy. The PX-777 came with a 'free earpiece/mike' which I cut the earpiece and mike off and soldered on a DB9 to suit the OT+. Total cost $83 for PX-777, $30 for OT+, $45 for GPS16 receiver, a few bucks for bits'n'pieces connectors etc.

According to aprs.fi on the raw packets page, Duncan hasn't sent any packets in the last two days, but the last path was VK6GHZ-7>2P38V2 via WIDE1-1,WIDE2-2,qAS,VK6HV
According to ACMA, VK6HV is in (or near) Wickham.

RAW appeared on my desktop app about 5 seconds after I saw your message. Good to see a few more callsigns now. When I first started running the app it was just a few digipeaters and the same two or three mobiles most of the time.

Worked north almost to Williams and SE almost out to Gnowangerup.

I'm guessing south it will almost reach to Mt Barker.

Also the digipeater has been heard this evening by VK6KSB-3 at Pinjarra and VK6RVP-1 at Vic Park.

Next we need to improve the antennas!

Yeah, it was on the WARG list. It has suffered damage to the solar panels and the site was completely switched off to save the batteries.
