...and using the existing WAPOL infrastructure. Obviously it will be extended, more base stations for capacity and enhanced coverage.

No. It's an addition to the WAERN system which is still rolling out. The advantage of the new system is that it will increase interoperability with Police and Department of Corrective Services. The digital system is the one discussed earlier this year. It will be in the metro area (including Northam and down to Dunsborough), Geraldton, greater Karratha, Albany and Kalgoorlie areas.

Is that because you don't understand fully?

Digital is not going to be happening any time soon. This came from high up in fesa.

Hahaha spend millions on 1 radio network only to then pay motorola 40mil to build another 1.
I know it probably all comes down to budgets but i mean not long after WAPOL went digital st johns metro installed there tait digital system and now fesa want to jump on the band wagon. It would make sense to follow in victoria's foot steps and build a large network and put all emergency services on it. It would be easy to segregate with talk groups for the day to day stuff and when required everyone at the scene goes to talkgroup x and everyone is joined together like 1 big happy family.

Oh well. Watch this space i guess.

A quote business should learn and understand:

"In any hierarchy, each individual rises to his own level of incompetence, and then remains there" Anon.

Sometimes the bloke on the shop floor on the minimum wages knows better than his boss on mega bucks FESA!
