Re: Helitak Thread
Just had one of this seasons 214s fly over South towards Rockingham. You sure hear them before you see them.

Re: Helitak Thread
Not wrong about that one.
Re: Helitak Thread
I'm not sure if this is the same model, but one did a drop in front of us last weekend at Salt Ash, NSW. Certainly more 'thunderous' than the 350s

Re: Helitak Thread
Clearly someone has not updated the info. There is no PZL M-18A Dromaders, and No AS350 Air Attack, it is AS355F1, The AT602's are not listed and at last count there are 10 Air Tractor 802's this year.

Had the 2 bell 214s come over today around 2pm heading to Ocean Farms, mean sounding helitaks, could hear them for km's.

Re: Helitak Thread
All depends if they are night ifr/vfr rated and or approved. Rescue 65, polair are the only ones I am aware of.
Send me a pm too with your email.

Re: Helitak Thread
Any chopper that is approved can fly at night (stupidly broad answer, i know) provided that the pilot is appropriately trained.kyeboi wrote:Also I have a question you mite be able to answer, what choppers can fly at night? Any flight at night must comply with the appropriate laws which restrict operations. POLAIR and Rescue 65 do operate at night, because the choppers and pilots are capable, the Water bomber pilots more than likely are trained to fly at night, but because of restrictions on the work they do (water bombing) they are not able to work at night.
Additional useless information:
At night an aircraft under Visual Flight Rules must operate a minimum of 1000' above the highest obstacle within 10nm of the aircraft, unless it is taking off or landing. [within 3nm of the aerodrome/landing area] - Civil Aviation Regulation 174B
The exception to the above is a helicopter operating under the VFR with the pilot using Night Vision Goggles (for the purposes of search and rescue, law enforcement, emergency medical services, aerial fire fighting) and meet several conditions. Civil Aviation Order 82.6
I do not believe that DFES is approved for NVG operations
