Re: General fire discussions
As it stands, FESA can take over as incident controller from DEC/LG if asked.
Re: General fire discussions
The key words here are "I Guess". All we have is a small news article which contains virtually no detail, and as such peole are guessing as to what may happen.Helitak_670 wrote:Read it correctly.
DEC to loose "EMERGENCY" responsibility. Not the whole thing. Ie you will tend to see FESA run more incidents initially with the help of DEC.
example, a FESA DM/CFM arrives and due to lack of FESA resources he calls on DEC and I guess that is how the show will roll.
When you state "DEC are to loose EMERGENCY responsibility" does it mean they loose the responsibility to manage the incident, or does it also include the responsibility to respond to the incident? To quote directly from the article,
This statement could lead people to believe that they will have little to no responce at all to a bushfire. However there is very little further information in the article to indicate if this will or will not happen, or how far the "stripping of responsibility" from DEC will go.The Fire and Emergency Services Authority is ready to inherit greater responsibility should the Department of Environment and Conservation be stripped of its role as a firefighting agency, FESA chief Wayne Gregson says
All responces to this article are plausable. Until it actually happens (if it does happen) all everyone is doing is guessing as to how things may be.
Re: General fire discussions
Well if Bindoon is anything to go by were all in trouble. Maybe we should get the people who organized the construction of the control point to organize the fires too, they did a great job.

Re: General fire discussions
How does 6AR know that a catastrophic event has not occurred taking out all appliances at an incident? After about 1930 they spent about 10 mins trying to raise someone at the stirling highway incident for a sitrep .
