Palm Beach (Rockingham)/Safety Bay

Post by Jared »

Could anyone shed any light on this subject? Today i was walking the dog and (I believe to be) PolAir came over and was continuesly circlying over what i think to be the Rockingham Marine Rescue. When PolAir left a large aeroplane took its place. White in Colour with 2 large red stripes. I think this was customs. Was there an exercise or something going on with the VMRS.

By the time i got home and to my scanner they must have left/finished or my scanner wasnt powerful enough to pick them up.

Anyone shed some light on this?

Not aware of the exact incident you are describing but it sounds awfully like an EPIRB/Beacon search. The red and white aircraft is VH-PPF a Dornier 328-100 operated out of Perth doing search and rescue missions for the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA)...and also surveillance missions for Australian Customs.
