Impersonating a public officer must go beyond simply "looking like one".

Looking like a cop car/person does not constitue the offence impersonating a public officer, a person protrays conduct or try/attempt to excerise the powers of the public officer is needed to commit the offence.

Hope that makes sense?

Cheers

I drive a silver VZ Commodore and I get looks all the time and people even slow down sometimes, infact my grandson was playing with a toy machine gun in the car once and my wife put it up on the dash out of the way, it had red and blue LEDs flashing on it as she put it down and an old fella in a ute pulled over in front of me. It didnt click until I got home what had happened (purely innocent). I would never go out of my way to "pretend" to be a copper... a) because I'm not stupid and b) because I have way to much respect for our boys in blue.
My 2 cents.

it may sound weird but yes thats sort of along the lines im getting at.

If its a faker cop car, and then drives in a conduct/manner to seem like he is a cop, then justification on the driver of the faker to explain wtf he is doing haha. Its all TPC

the law is set up like that so people attending those dress-up parties and such arent commiting any offences by dressing up like a public officer.

Remember its impersonating a public officer, it doesnt just cover a police officer it covers a wide variety of occupations.

Personally, as discussed, I think its sad to be a wannaby lookalike. You eather are or your not. However may be purely innocent in this case, so fair enough...If there was infact a deckblaster, then I do NOT approve and that is pure stupidity..Or if you "act" like a Undercovery...however if ya going on with your normal ways and you seem to happen to look like one then so be it...nothing can be or should be done...

Anyway moving on....

Today Read St X Rand Ave (3.30pm ish)...created shocking traffic problems!

A) There is plenty of other sections/topics in this forum , just incase you haven't scrolled down the main page befor.

B) Who cares about people the dress thier cars up like cop cars, atleast people will slow down when they see them , and who doesnt ask to see a cops ID if their in doubt?? i know i do , besides dont you think a plain clothed cop with no gun, pepper spray, taser or cuffs looks a bit dodgey? , maybe people should take more notice if there gonna hand over their licence or shut up and stop acting like TOOLS!!
