The V8 Supercars are in town again this weekend. Who's going up to the track to watch?

There's not much info radio-wise, but if anyone has anything interesting to share, please put it in this thread

The V8 Supercars Website has a list of team frequencies here which is reproduced below:



I'm curious what other radio systems may be in use on the day. I'll have a handheld amateur 2m/70cm with me and probably monitoring the northern suburbs repeaters when I can.

There's also radio systems used by the WA Sporting Car club, but I'm not 100% certain what they are. I did manage to find one frequency on the ACMA's website - 450.325 MHz putting out 5 Watts narrow bandwidth FM voice. That might be the frequency that's used by the officials, etc. Not sure.

I *think* there may be a V8 Supercars frequency (UHF) used for Race Control. It used to be listed on the V8 supercars website along with all the other frequencies.. I take it, it isnt there anymore?

If it is, I couldn't find it. I could only find the team frequencies above...

There's bound to be other frequencies in use though from other organisations / agencies... If anyone knows of any, please share

There are three frequencies registered to V8 Supercars PTY LTD and these are listed for use Australia wide. I don't have personal experience listening to these ones but they could be worth a try.

471.125 MHz
472.500 MHz
471.150 MHz

Well, off to Barbagallo tomorrow, our support category has a practice and a qualifying session in the morning.

No chance yet to check out the other frequencies above but if you live close to the track you *may* be able to pick up the internal TV feed which is on UHF TV channels 40 and 41.

Well, was listening to the WASCC frequency this afternoon for about an hour and didn't hear a peep.


And I've listened to the above three for the same period of time, once I'd finished doing "real work"

Only the first frequency was active, and it was used to carry data transmissions of some sort...

Will listen some more tomorrow.

For those who are out there tomorrow or Sunday - the category that Nafenn and I are pit crewing for in is "Formula Classic" - Race 1 is around 2:30pm and Race 2 is around 3:45pm. Sunday, Race 3 is at 9:10am and Race 4 is at 4:00pm.

Never got a chance to check out any of the other frequencies - was a bit busy!

I was told the radio's used by the WASCC are digital and cant be picked up.
I know for sure you cant pick up the WASCC Emergency chanel.....and we use a lot of mobile phones now

Thanks Fire Chief ... do you happen to know the frequencies they use for any of the internal comms at the racetrack?

The ACMA database search doesn't reveal anything significant, which leads me to think they may be leased radios from a commercial outfit...

They own the radios.
the flag marshal points use mainly land line intercom
emergency chanel is digital so it cant be picked up....its only used to organise lunches and talk to race control about basic stuff most emergencies we use mobile phone

the radios cost the club stuff all as a sponcership deal was done
