What needs improving by using a balun? All quad antenna's I have seen (but these were HF only) did not use/need a balun.
The only vhf baluns I have ever seen advertised in Australia were from ATN Antenna's in Victoria a long time ago.

As you can see above the leak is being taken se...

Re: Satellite TV
I wonder how the device know where the satellites are ... I bet they just have to program in all of those informations and align the dish etc ... It will good if there is DIY info on it ... interesting to learn :D Any satellite tracking program will tell you where a satellite is, provided you load ...

edit: Hey Blinky, did yours come with that 10m piece of black wire? You said you've only ever used the telescopic, but just wondering if you got the ext antenna too. I think it's really crap. Maybe a thicker piece of wire would be better. It's thinner than a single strand headphone cable... about h...

Yes the DE1103 is a better than expected radio. Plus it has a BFO so can listen to SSB on it. I have only ever used the internal whip. I have had mine for probably nearly 2 years and paid twice what that listing you showed was. Even then I thought it was a bargain. Even more so now.

Re: anyone else having trouble getting settings to lock in?
Well seeing that Motorhommie also posted a message around the same time as this message asking for accessories for a TG-UV2 (presumably a Quansheng TG-UV2) I am guessing it is one of those. My experience with the Chinese HT's is programming is best done with a computer, but thats just my opinion. I ...

Re: Ship position receiving and sharing
Isn't it always the way. I have had a visitor from Karratha this weekend so I went to show the AIS display on aprs.fi of the shipping off the NW coast. It's alway worked before but today I notice no AIS traffic showing for the NW. It's been a while since I last looked so don't know how long it has n...

Do you know anything about these BMW cars? I've always wondered if they are just bare shells with minimum equipment fitted inside, or if they are the real deal 5 series with seat massagers, powered seats, and all the lovelys that come with standard BMW 5 series? If they are standard, then wow - you...
