Saw one of the new digital handsets on one of our new vans today- they look like a mobile phone! They seem to be able to receive the analogue signal but its sounds hazy and the p1 alert tone sounds really muffled. On-road Paramedics can only intubate patients who have no gag reflex. ie Patients who have arrested or massive head injuries and so forth. The team leaders and clinical team leaders (drive subi's) both get called to attend jobs via mobile phone and on radio when comms think they will be needed. Pierce A/B have 3 Mercs they use for emergency's on base and for standing-by at training events etc. I know they are not permitted to travel to hospital on a 1, thou not sure if they can go normal road.
