they get used on bush fires as they are easier to reel out in the bush and then wind back up faster than rolling a lay flat up to go and get water,as i have seen it 1st hand at the brigadoon fire when an frs crew helped us stop a fire approaching a house as we were almost out of water in our 1.4 was...

ours came through from the shire of swan,they were the ones who did ours maybe contact your local shires for them as they do have fesa on them so i imagine they are for everyone.

we've had id cards in east gidge for a few years now they really help getting through rd blocks if your on the way to the station or control point (if you dont already have your ppe on ).

In my opinion you shouldnt hang around gawking taking pics of the fires and surrounds as it could lead to being accused of lighting the fire like a lot of firebugs do to get their glory of what they have just lit.

there was a fire toodyay rd x of roe hwy near the caltex was probably that 1, i went past about 10am and malaga 2.4 was leaving there.
