A very sad loss indeed. He will be truly missed.
My condolences to his family.

Re: APRS Midwest
It's my understanding that the site was unsuitable and was abandoned early in favour of finding a new site. More soon. It was doing rather well, while the ducting was happening. Unfortunately very little APRS users on the road. I did hear it on my way to and from Perth. The return afternoon journey...

Re: APRS Midwest
Well for one, APRS had been operational in the Midwest for many months now. I run the local IGate and soon an SGate.
What's happening over the next week or so is a trial to see how the voice repeater and APRS system can be expanded to give continuous coverage between Perth an Geraldton.

You also need to change your path from Wide1-1, Wide2-1 etc to ARISS.robbage wrote:I'm told all you need to do is set your APRS frequency to 145.825 and no obstructions and you'll have a pretty good chance of hitting it if it's in your airspace? Re: DX reports (FM and repeaters)
More tropo tonight on 2 metres. APRS and several repeaters.
Hearing VK6RPH 2 & 6m beacons and VK6RBU 2m beacon.
Spoke to Jeff VK6AX via Rolystone.
No-one else though. Pity as was perfect to liaise a 6m contact.

Maarten VK6MP and myself, both in Gero, just made contact via VK6REX in Exmouth.
About 2x3 each way.

Re: DX reports (FM and repeaters)
My mistake, it was ROO. I have it tagged on my IC208 as "Gerro" :-) 6RGN is the one that shares the same freq with Kal and Katanning? ROO is 146.775 RGN is 147.000 Shared as you mentioned. I guess everyone was busy this morning as not to hear you. I was in Three Springs. Bit hard to hear ...

6RGN? Where's that, hihirobbage wrote:Got into 6RGN while driving past Observation City but they must have been asleep
Very few monitor that one now as 6ROO is the repeater of choice.
Once 6RGN gets upgraded and antenna raised quite a few more metres, then there will be more interest

Re: DX reports (FM and repeaters)
The phantom repeater kerchunkers always come out when a duct is running. :-s Yes, guilty as charged  Was a good night though. Briefly spoke to Martin VK6ZMS via VK6RFM earlier on. Later, for at least an hour up to midnight, Paul VK6WZ via VK6RCT :) Maarten VK6MP then continued to chat to Paul...
